Fetac Level 5 Course - Pre-school Child with Special Needs

This course has been developed by KARE with funding and support from the Kildare County Childcare Committee. It is designed to give course participants knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to successfully include and support children with learning disabilities in local pre-schools.

Please note:

Course applicants are required to be working with children with learning disabilities in a local pre-school for the duration of the course as there is continual assessment that requires practical application of skills into such an environment.

Entry Requirements for this course

  • FETAC Level 5 Childcare qualification (completed)
  • Knowledge/interest in learning disabilities
  • Experience of working with children
  • Support from employer to complete work pieces in work place
  • Report writing skills
  • Communication skills
  • Computer skills and access to a computer with participants email address is necessary

Course starts: September 2010
Course Duration: 10 weeks (1 night per week from 7-10 pm)
Course cost: €130 to be submitted with application (assistance with funding can be arranged, for information call Karen Donegan, KARE, 045-448700 ).
