Promoting Inclusion for People with Intellectual Disabilities

Brighter Futures
Help us raise €100,000 to provide engaging, enriching, and inclusive environments for the children we support.
Our children's services provide safe and nurturing spaces for children to learn and develop at their own pace.
From covered play areas for year-round outdoor activities to sensory toys and respite facilities, our goal is to enhance the wellbeing of the 80+ children with intellectual disabilities who we support, and their families.
Supports for children and families
Eva Quinn's parents, Jennifer and Gary, share how our Arscull respite service has helped their family.
'Eva really enjoys her trips to Ardscull. It has really helped to build her independence. She loves the staff and the playground.

'Respite has given us a much-needed break. It has given us time to ourselves as a young married couple, and also a chance to recharge our batteries.
'We know Eva is well looked after and supervised. The staff are excellent and so friendly, as well as being extremely thorough and keeping us updated throughout Eva’s stay.
'Respite is extremely important for children with disabilities and their families. It has been really beneficial for our mental wellbeing as the demands of parenting a child with significant disabilities can be challenging. The break helps us reset and continue to be the best parents we can be.'
What we need
We need funding to make the following updates and improvements to our children's services:
-
Play areas: Develop outdoor spaces so children can play safely in all weathers
-
Play equipment: Add new items like slides and trampolines to encourage active play and engagement
-
Sensory resources: Develop spaces and toys to support creativity and skill-building
-
Special celebrations: Fund decorations and activities to create memories for Halloween, Christmas, graduation day and other special milestones
-
Community involvement: Supply materials for the Men’s Sheds initiatives to build outdoor play items, strengthening local partnerships
