As part of Kildare Social Inclusion Week, Kare and the Newbridge Disability Access Group once again hosted a community arts and crafts exhibition in Newbridge Town Hall.
The event, held on the morning of 24th September, brought people from across the local community together for a relaxed and welcoming morning. Individuals and groups showcased their creativity with displays of painting, sculpture, knitting, weaving and more.
This year’s exhibition also featured live music and a performance by the Singing for Wellbeing Choir from Newbridge Family Resource Centre, led by director Glen, who soon had the whole hall singing along. Students from the Patrician Secondary School volunteered their time to help with the running of the exhibition, while Violet and Kathleen from the Newbridge Disability Access Group kept the teas and coffees flowing. Students and teachers from St Mark’s and Newbridge College also showed their support on the day.
The event was supported by Creative Ireland and had strong attendance from schools, local groups, politicians and An Garda Síochána, reflecting the importance of inclusion and community spirit at the heart of the exhibition.
Speaking afterwards, Anne-Marie Potter, Social Inclusion Officer at Kare, said: “We were delighted with the turnout again this year and the level of engagement from the community. The exhibition not only celebrates creativity, it brings people together in a warm and welcoming space – exactly what Kildare Social Inclusion Week is all about.”
